building better
Renovating a dealership while customers are buying cars, service bays are full, and operations never stop moving takes more than a construction schedule.
It takes planning, partnership, and a field team that understands how dealerships actually operate.
That was the challenge facing Neil Huffman Automotive Group at its Honda dealership in Clarksville, Indiana.
Buffalo Construction partnered with the Huffman team to lead a highly phased renovation and expansion that included a new 12-bay service addition, showroom and lounge renovations, upgraded consultation areas, facade improvements, and multiple interior renovation phases — all while the dealership remained open and operational.
Every completed phase triggered another operational shift. Departments relocated, customer pathways changed, and construction moved around active staff, inventory, customers, and service traffic daily.
Because service operations are the heartbeat of a dealership, maintaining continuity became one of the project’s biggest priorities.
Buffalo’s onsite leadership played a major role in making that happen. The field team built strong working relationships with dealership GMs and operational teams, helping streamline sequencing decisions, department relocations, scheduling adjustments, and day-to-day coordination throughout construction.
As the project evolved, ownership continued refining layouts and customer-facing spaces in real time. Vehicle delivery areas, offices, consultation spaces, and mezzanine layouts were adjusted throughout the build as operational priorities became clearer in the field.
Buffalo remained flexible and solutions-focused throughout the process, helping ownership navigate evolving priorities while maintaining progress across multiple active phases.
The project also required extensive coordination with Honda’s branding partner, evolving manufacturer standards, and multiple design consultants. At the same time, the team worked through unforeseen structural conditions, drainage conflicts, dimension inconsistencies, and existing building challenges without losing momentum.
Despite the complexity, the dealership remained operational throughout construction with minimal disruption to service operations.
Today, the renovated Clarksville Honda dealership delivers a modern customer experience while improving the operational efficiency needed to support long-term growth.
More importantly, the project demonstrated Buffalo Construction’s ability to lead complex dealership transformations through strong field leadership, proactive communication, operational awareness, and true partnership.
Because successful dealership construction isn’t just about building the facility.
It’s about helping the dealership keep moving while you transform it.
