Each Kona Grill restaurant is a unique build, because each one gets its own style. Though we may not be known for our fashion sense, the Herd is known for having a unique style. So we can get behind the need to be different.
In Denver, we were tasked with remodeling an existing Kona Grill. We started by gutting all of the construction except the kitchen, which was already in great shape. The plan was to put in new storefront doors and windows, build out a new interior and put new finishes on the exterior of the structure.
This Kona Grill was part of a mall that was under renovation. And that caused some major traffic jams. If you think it's hard to get your shopping done at the mall during the holidays, imagine trying to get construction deliveries to your mall restaurant when access to your job site is blocked! But as the Herd is known to do, we plowed through these issues to keep this project on track.
The result? A high-energy fusion of modern decor and asian-influenced dishes. Contemporary metal finishes reflect the cobalt blue lights — a reminder of the deep blue sea, where many of its offerings once lived. Though buffalo usually eat only grass, the Herd could probably be convinced to have some sushi in this space!
