Panera Bread is already rolling in the dough after the Herd finished the build out of its commissary in West Chester, Ohio. All puns aside, it was a tough project, but some might say the result is the best thing since sliced bread.
We were tasked with demoing the existing building interior and then constructing a new facility inside. The plans for the new space included the commissary and attached administrative offices, but we also had to migrate some equipment from their current processing site to the new facility.
Although a lot of the materials that must be used for the food industry have long lead times, we were able to keep the project on track. One huge challenge was the installation of a 6,242 square foot refrigerator/freezer unit, along with the required refrigeration piping. The installation of two truck loading docks with truck levers also required us to cut into a tilt-up concrete wall, but the Herd got through it like a knife through butter.
The hard work really paid off when we handed over an amazingly functional, well-built facility. Kudos to the Herd! This one’s worth breaking some bread together to celebrate.
