About 30 minutes east of Anaheim, California is Norco, technically a suburb, but known for its rural atmosphere and passion for equestrian life. City ordinances call for architectural design that ‘reflects a desired western theme’ with a traditional and low-key vibe. Woodspring Suites delivers just that with this wood-framed 48,000sf 4-story extended-stay hotel.
Through collaboration, transparency, and open communication, our team was able to overcome the hurdles handed to us. After receiving a construction permit by the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction), a field review with the fire marshal revealed structural framing changes that would be imperative to the success of the new build. We have our rockstar team to thank for keeping what could have been a major schedule impact, to just another day’s work! Their ability to collaborate with the fire marshal, design team and material providers to adapt to the changes was a true testament to our capacity to face any challenge. As the Herd always says, “Good planning and participation by all stakeholders is the key to success.”
